…in a one horse open sleigh, hey!

As I think you may know by now, I have a somewhat unusual sense of humour — I like to do random and unexpected things just to get peoples minds thinking and wondering. I have spoken before how I plan to announce my pregnancy if that day ever comes and as I browsed ChristmasCardsDirect.com earlier while looking for a source for this years Business Holiday Cards my mind started going to many a wonderfully random place about the possibilities of personalised holiday cards.

Why send my parents a card with a snowman on it, when I can send them one with a photo of my dad ‘popped up’ last year after one too many wee Christmas tipples? Why send my other half a card with a heart or profession of love on it when I can send him one with a picture of me dressed up as Mrs Claus

Oh yes, personalised cards from me all the way this year I think!

I also enjoyed the section on photography tips they have on the site, something I need to show my dad I think as he’s a serial offender of chopping people out of photos — the best family photo we have has the top of my brothers head and my arm missing out of it!

So if you have a warped sense of humour like me, need some more sensible ones for business use or just want some photography tips — visit ChristmasCardsDirect.com.

While I am away, we are going to go out for a curry with the other halves work colleagues. We are going to go to the pub with his best friends and I am going to meet one of their fiances for the first time. We are going to go to the Casino with some of his old school friends, we are going to go to the ‘De Lux’ Showcase cinema and best of all we are going to a big Firework display.

I am also likely to spend a lot of time playing De Blob on the Wii which I have bought just to keep me entertained while I am there, I have heard it’s a great game and highly addictive. I just hope it leaves me with enough time to blog

Did I mention that I am away at the moment? I am staying with family in Derby, I love spending time with them…but I hate getting there so much.

Firstly is the packing, packing has no plus sides. I am rubbish at it and the thing that bugs me the most is that after packing, I have to unpack on the other end, then repack when it’s time to come home, then unpack when I get home. It’s all just so mindless.

Secondly is the long coach ride, usually sat in far too close a proximity to a complete stranger. The only coach that gets me there in time for the person who picks me up before they go to work leaves at 10.25am, that means I have to get up at 9am — 9am, you guys know I am a nightowl, getting up at 9am means I am going to get 3 hours sleep if I am lucky — that’s like most normal people having to get up at around 2am! It also doesn’t help that I get really travel sick unless I sit looking out of the window, so it’s not even like I can play my DS, read a book, send text messages etc to keep me occupied — and if the coach is busy when I first get on and I don’t even get a window seat, there’s trouble.

Hate Hate Hate

The only thing I am left with now is a really husky voice, but I am OK with that because my throat isn’t sore and I sound sheexayyy. Well OK, sexyish.

Of course the week I was sick was the week my other half decided to be away, not only that but coincidentally my parents and my brother and sister-in-law were both away on holiday for the week. I felt kinda lonely. You know what it’s like when you are sick, you just want someone to look after you and sympathise.

I kept looking around me when I was through with a coughing fit for someone to say ‘Aww Poor you’, I kept making moaning and groaning and sighing noises expecting someone to ask ‘Aww, still feeling poorly?’ — but no, I was all alone…just me and my cold

Did you hear about the collapse of XL, the UKs 3rd biggest airline? Have a read about it here if not. The basic gist is that they have gone under, leaving 1000s of customers out of pocket or worse still stranded in foreign countries.

It seems my parents had a very lucky escape, on Tuesday last week they almost booked a holiday with them.

They had planned to go away today, as my mum has 2 weeks off work and they have been searching like mad for a holiday for weeks, they are very picky and…cheap…to put it bluntly, they usually wait until the last minute and get a bargain deal, but this time they just couldn’t find any thing, prices weren’t dropping at all. They eventually found a holiday, flying with XL, but it was more money than they usually pay — they debated about it for a few days, changing their minds several times before finally on Thursday they decided it was too much money and that they would just go somewhere in the UK this time instead.

On Friday morning the news of XLs decline was all over the paper and news. They paid on my mums switch card so the money would have been lost. Talk about a lucky escape hey?

The moral of the story? Well, there are two; Always use your credit card online as you are covered in cases like this, and sometimes it pays to be cheap hehe

Blogging before bed about dream holidays means only one thing for me – dreams of far flung, beautiful places — **happy sigh**

Australia is number one in my head. I have wanted to visit Australia for as long as I can remember — probably influenced by watching Neighbours every week day for 20 years? haha. I just seem to have a natural affinity with Australians and Australia, I love the laid back Aussie attitude, and it always seems so beautiful and exotic.

Or course it’s also the physically most far away as is humanly possible place to the UK, I think it takes 13 hours on a plane, which probably adds to the feeling that it’s exotic and far flung. I don’t know if I will ever make it to Australia, but I sure hope so

Where is your dream destination?

It’s a while before I get to go on holiday again, we’re not made of money so can only really afford to go away for a few days each year — and this year we went to lovely sunny South Wales here in the UK in the middle of June, we wanted to go for our five year anniversary on the 6th but couldn’t arrange it, so we went a week or so later and just counted it as an anniversary vacation regardless.

Even though we won’t be going any where again for a while that doesn’t stop me looking and dreaming, I absolutely love traveling and often do ‘pretend’ holiday searches, what a nerd huh?

One place would love to visit is Atlanta, in the good old US of A. The Stone Mountain adventure park looks amazing and right up our alley, I’d especially love to see the laser show as I enjoy things like that, fireworks, storms etc — I am like a kid, “Ooooh pretty lights in sky” haha. Judging by the amount of Atlanta Tours available at TrustedTours.com it certainly seems like Atlanta is one city it’d be very, very hard to get bored in.

A girl can dream…a girl can dream.
