In the end we decided to go for it, having remembered that we always go to them when we get them, because we like free things.

Well we got there, on time for once, and the usher told us it had been cancelled — I could already see his angry face appearing, having gone all that way when he didn’t really want to only to get there and it’s cancelled? Grr.

But then the usher went on to say that as such, we were welcome to go to the ticket counter and choose whatever we wanted — for free! SCORE.

There was several to chose from that we’d have been happy to see, but we settled on Ghost Town.

What’s the lesson? Always go to free screenings, you never know what might happen teehee

Are films getting better, or are we just getting easier to please?

It was certainly predictable in places, but it wasn’t cheesy and corny. The characters were all likeable and/or interesting and I didn’t see the end coming.

Over all we give it a 7.5/10

This is a downside not because trailers are boring, but because as previously mentioned the other half and I are really really hard to please when it comes to films — we go to these free screenings ‘blind’ — as in without finding out what the film is about, for the very reason that if we did 9 times out of 10 we’d decide not to bother.

Three trailers were shown and we have tickets for two of them i the coming weeks. Taken and Death Race, I thought that both looked really dire and the other half thought that Death Race did and now we are debating if we should go or not, whereas before we would have just gone without question!

Cure you trailers, curse you.

Now let me tell you about yesterday, my other half and I go to free cinema screenings a lot – because we like free things. The advantage is that we’ll go and see any thing, if we were paying we’d only go a few times a year because we rarely agree on what looks good. Free means we don’t need to worry about that, so even if it’s something the looks not like our cup of tea we’ll go.

I say this is an advantage, but it’s also a disadvantage – when the film we go and see is as mind numbingly poor as last nights offering, RocknRolla – a paint by numbers ‘gangster’ film that was about as imaginative and interesting as my behind. The plot line was generic, the acting was poor, the humour was base and it was all round not even worth the price tag of ‘Free’.

So, a tip for you guys – RocknRolla, give it a miss.

I am going to set it going now and then head out to town, I am hoping to buy some cheap Sharpies that I have seen advertised in Wilkinsons, then we are going to a free screening of RockNRolla. Fun.
